Integrative Psychiatry Treatment Model

My approach to healing integrates the standard treatments of psychotherapy and psychiatric medications with non-medication interventions to treat anxiety disorders, PTSD, and ADHD, with the primary focus on the latter for those who philosophically want these or cannot tolerate medications easily.  At the core of my approach is guiding you in cultivating mindful self-compassion and easily usable skills (connecting with your breath, targeted muscle relaxation, etc) focused on reducing distress and regulating your emotional state. I utilize non-medication interventions such as herbs, nutrients, and vitamins to optimize brain function and minimize the amount of medication needed to improve your symptoms and reduce distress.  I also do standard laboratory as well as specialized genetic testing to identify any conditions and/or deficiencies that guide the optimal interventions for your treatment.

Psychotherapy and Integrative Medication Management

There are thankfully a variety of tools that can be effective in reducing distress caused by anxiety disorders, PTSD, ADHD, and depression. I will work with you to identify the most helpful and effective choices for you.

I see many individuals for regular weekly or biweekly therapy. I also offer monthly visits focused on integrative medication management using a holistic, positive psychiatry model as discussed above.

Mindful Self-Compassion

Recent neuroscience research has demonstrated that mindfulness physically changes the brain and compassion-focused interventions are the most powerful way to facilitate this healing process. As these changes occur, you will be better able to alter the patterns of behavior that cause distress and suffering.

I use straightforward strategies to help you understand and apply mindful self-compassion in order to move your life in the direction you desire.

Insurance and Billing

I do not accept any insurance or work with insurance companies directly, like most private practices in New York City. You will be required to pay for your appointments in full at the time of your visit and then seek reimbursement from your insurance for any out-of-network benefits available under your specific plan. I will provide you with a superbill that includes all the necessary information to submit for reimbursement. For your convenience, you can consider using an app such as Reimbursify to seek reimbursement, although most people find it a simple process to submit directly to their insurance company. As examples, you can use the code 90792 for the initial consultation, and the combined codes 99213/99214 plus 90836 for all follow-up visits to get an idea of what your insurance plan is likely to reimburse. These codes are not a guarantee of reimbursement, but they can provide an estimate of what you can expect to be reimbursed. Additionally, utilizing benefits through your employer such as a HSA (Healthcare Spending Account) or FSA (Flexible Spending Account) may further reduce your out-of-pocket expense.
